What is an autohrization hold and when is payment processed?Updated a year ago

An authorization hold is a temporary hold placed on your account by a merchant, such as a grocery delivery company, to ensure that funds are available for the transaction. The hold is not an actual charge but is a pre-authorization to ensure that the funds are available for the transaction when it is completed. This is a common practice used by many merchants to ensure that the customer's payment method is valid

Authorization holds typically last between 1 to 7 business days, depending on the merchant's policies and the bank's processing times. After the hold period, the funds will be released back to your account.

If you notice an unknown charge on your account, the first step is to contact the merchant directly to inquire about the charge. It's possible that the charge is a legitimate transaction that you may have forgotten about, or it could be an error on the merchant's part.

If the charge is fraudulent, contact your bank or credit card company immediately to report the charge and dispute it. They will investigate the charge and take the necessary steps to resolve the issue and ensure that your account is secure.
